Internships

Each semester, the Intensive English Institute hires several University of Illinois domestic undergraduate students to work as interns. This is a paid student hourly position, with an average of 8-10 hours per week.

Interning at the Intensive English Institute is a great opportunity to learn and grow professionally and as an individual. Interning can improve communication and cross-cultural skills, increase ability to work both individually and as a team, and broaden global perspectives.

An IEI intern’s duties include assisting students with cultural adjustment, planning and publicizing weekly activities for students, organizing large events, staffing the front desk, connecting students with campus and community organizations, working with other staff as a team, and working independently on projects. The most qualified intern candidate is one who has cross-cultural experience, excellent communication and organizational skills, and ability or high potential to build relationships across cultural and linguistic boundaries.
