IEI COVID-19 Updates

The University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign and the Intensive English Institute are committed to the health and safety of our students.

Summer 2022

In Fall 2021, the University of Illinois returned to on-campus, in-person instruction. All students and faculty are required to wear a mask in class and to get the vaccine and the booster shot (as soon as they are eligible). Those who cannot get the vaccine (for approved reasons) or are not fully vaccinated will have to continue to get tested 2 times a week through the University of Illinois system. The IEI will follow these guidelines.

The IEI will continue to offer high quality English instruction, as well as other activities where you can practice your English such as ConvoPartners. We have also resumed in-person social activities for students. As always, as an IEI student, you can improve your language proficiency and your use of English for your academic or professional development.

We are no longer accepting applications for Summer 2022, but you can go to our Application page to sign up for Fall 2022 and Spring 2023 classes.

Green St. in Champaign remains closed for now, we hope to be back on campus in a new location by the end of August or early September.
